Dermapen (Microneedling)

Controlled micro-needling that stimulates collagen production to improve acne marks, pore appearance and skin texture.

Dermapen (Microneedling)

The device uses fine needles to create microscopic channels in the skin at a controlled depth. These micro-injuries trigger a natural healing response that stimulates collagen and elastin — the proteins responsible for the skin's fullness and elasticity.

What it targets

  • Superficial and moderate atrophic acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores and rough texture
  • Early fine lines
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Stretch marks on the body

Depth is set by area

Needle depth is not fixed; the under-eye differs from the cheek, and atrophic acne scars need more depth than a general texture refinement. Setting it correctly is what separates a good result from pointless irritation.

Results take time

Collagen is not built in a day. Improvement begins to show two to four weeks after a session and continues to accumulate across a series. Any promise of a complete, immediate result from one session is unrealistic.

After the session

Redness resembling mild sunburn for one to three days, with slight dryness. Avoid make-up for 24 hours and exfoliants and retinol for several days; sunscreen is essential.

What you gain

  • Natural stimulation of collagen production
  • Noticeable improvement in atrophic acne scarring
  • Needle depth adjusted for each area
  • Suitable for most skin types, including darker skin
  • Can be combined with PRP to enhance the result
  • A relatively short recovery period

FAQ

How many sessions do acne scars need?

Usually 4 to 6 sessions spaced four weeks apart. Deep atrophic scars may need more, or combining with other procedures, which is assessed after examining your skin.

Is the session painful?

A topical anaesthetic is applied 20 to 30 minutes beforehand, which makes the sensation manageable — closer to vibration with light pricking. Bony areas such as the forehead feel more.

When do results appear?

An initial glow within days, but genuine collagen improvement begins two to four weeks later and continues to build across the series.

Is it suitable for darker skin?

Yes, and this is one of its notable advantages. Because it relies on mechanical needling rather than heat or light, the pigmentation risk is lower than with many laser procedures.
